The video that talked about the "augmented reality sandbox" was a really creative way of using augmented reality. This example reminded me of the Earth & Ocean Science courses I took during my undergrad degree where I struggled to visualize the instructor's drawings, explanations, and even what was presented in the textbook. I think augmented reality can greatly benefit this discipline.

Absolutely! The work being done to document what is underwater is some of the most important information we need to see above the water. I saw Chasing Coral this year, whose subject is the founder of http://www.theoceanagency.org, dedicated to educating people about the ocean, and there are many more initiatives like it around the world. AR and VR has huge potential to tell powerful stories that cannot otherwise be told or experienced. Now is the time to harness those technologies for the greater good! Julia
