Augmented reality looks like it would give a cool platform for students to create projects with. Providing a novel technology to use would increase engagement. The glitches that come up would have one trying to troubleshoot and focus on the vehicle instead of the content, where the student should have their concentration. The perceived usefulness and ease of use must be considered as the Technology Acceptance Model tells us.
From a technology teacher perspective, I can see how this would be useful to provide students with information for demonstrations or procedures. Currently we use QR codes that link a student to these resources, so if a system has already been established, one would not want to add another application just for the sake of new and novel. I have found over the years that having many different applications that students need to learn and use creates overload and they start drifting away from the original objective. If I did not have resources already deployed, I would definitely consider using AR as a supportive technology.
I am glad to read this wonderful article.
