The concept of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerance is very difficult to understand. It takes traditional 2 dimensional measurements and adds the 3D variable with tolerances and bonus material. For every product that is created in this world, (more specifically in the first world countries), the study of measurement key component is GD&T and its understanding. Having some type of AR product or software that gives students that 3D understanding will be key to producing stronger engineers. I have personally taken 2 semesters worth of GD&T, but still don't fully understand it. It isn't until I work with product/manufacturing and quality departments in the real world, through real experiences, that I come to fully understand it. But, the fact that I have to learn quickly and adapt quickly makes learning it harder. My job depends on my learning quick. If, as a student, I had access to more AR of material, where I can pick up any generic product and see how it relates to measurements and manufacturing, I think I would have been a stronger engineer to begin with.
