The visual affordances of this technology is an interesting way to help students process information. The type of visual discoveries that can be made using Blippar could be used to support inquiry based learning while also supporting student engagement. For my first attempt with a class I have decided to use Blippar to create book reviews. After selecting a book of their choice students will use Blippar to highlight the elements of a story (characters, conflict, setting, plot, and theme). I have also come across a kids magazine Brain Space which uses Blippar to help students learn science, math, and technology. Now Im wondering how to use Blippar to teach grade 4 math. If anyone has any good ideas or links, please send them my way!
One concern I have however are the implications of face recognition. I hesitate to use the face recognition features of Blippar with my students or myself. Having lots of personal information curated may pose some pitfalls in the future. I can only imagine what life would be like if walking down the street meant that someone could use Blippar to find out information about me. Privacy is something I would like to know more about when it comes to using face recognition features of this technology.
